Work in progress...

Back - Front
I created 3 different drafts for a custom biz card.
She gave me a bunch of specs (colors, fonts, forms, style, etc.), which
helped me to come up with a very defined concept.
She picked back side No. 1 with a combination of photo/wording for
front side.

Kuddos from clients

"I wasn't sure about the whole maternity portraiture deal but
my mother (a mother of six children) said she wishes she had
taken more pictures from when she was pregnant.
I figured if I could get one or two tasteful maternity pictures, I'd be happy.
Needless to say, Rosie took two hours worth of photos and
I was incredibly shocked and ecstatic with the results.
I ended up ordering a whole bunch of pictures because I couldn't decide
which I liked more! Rosie is friendly, down to earth and VERY EASY to work with.
Now that I am 36 weeks pregnant and not feeling photogenic at all,
I am really happy I had Rosie photograph me.
I plan to call her for newborn photos when my son meets the world!" - Julie F. from

"Busy Bee" mode

Custom biz card - Back sideFront side - Picture

I'm all 'graphics' since last Friday.
I started working on a custom biz card design for Diana N,
a fellow Canadian photographer who found me through
my Etsy store.
That will keep me busy while I keep on
adding new prefab templates to my graphic design portfolio.
Ta-ta for now,
Rosie :)

Last minute News: I'm adding another project! This time
is twisting one of my premade logo design + watermark for
another fellow photographer Gwen S, who found me through
Flickr.

I'm part of another "Pay It Forward" mission

Think Pink Photography is a charitable organization supporting
individuals and their families who have been touched by breast cancer.
Our world-wide network of photographers has joined together
for two main purposes - celebrating life and supporting the cause.
We are celebrating life through charitable photography sessions for
survivors and their supporters.
Think Pink Photography is supporting the cause through donations
and various fundraising efforts.
All donations are made directly to The Eric R. Beverly Family Foundation.

Time to celebrate

I discovered one of my pics made it to the
Flickr "Professional Child Photography" icon spot today. Yay!

Same old NEW hat!

I'm a graphic designer by heart and I couldn't help myself anymore...
I started offering prefabricated logo designs and matching watermarks
to other photographers like me.
They are 'out of the blue' ideas I come up with and an affordable choice.
It can be used as your website header, exchange links banner, digital
biz card, tangible biz card, you name it...
All templates are one of a kind! Once you pick yours... it's gone.

Now, I'm happy :) Enjoy!

Q & A

Hi Rosie,
I am 32 weeks pregnant and from what I've heard, should take the
pictures in the next several weeks before I am too big!
32/34 weeks is perfect timing to take pregnancy pictures.
After that it gets a little overwhelming for you.

In any event, I checked out your website and am interested in
finding out more information about maternity pictures -- does
your fee include being on location?
Yes, my session fee includes on-location (of your choice).
Your own home, next-door park, by the beach, you name it...
By the way, I always have suggestions :)

Also, it includes a complimentary first consultation where

I can go and visit you. I will bring a draft of potential captures
you may like to takes (different poses and such) and that will
provide ideas of general style and concept of your portrait.
No all sessions are the same and I love it that way. I just want
to make sure that at the time of shooting, we both are on the
same page and the images are according to your expectations.
Also, I'll bring my laptop to show you how a private gallery works,
along with photo samples so you can appreciate quality of prints,
which I personally believe is excellent. I'm sure we can cover
all the bases within a hour.
Also, once you take the pictures, it looks like, according to your
website, I have the opportunity to pick and choose which
pictures I might want to order?
Yes, once I create your private gallery you will have access to
all your captures. Quantity and size of your prints will be
completely under your control.

When flashy becomes "too flashy" - photography tip!

I'm going to give away one of the ultimate secrets I have from when I had not
enough $ to buy every lil' single gadget in photography town :)

How to make the flash not to look all flashy?

If you have a SLR camera and you use the build-in flash
(yeah! the one that pops up) to take indoor pictures you will notice some
photos come out too "flashy"... is how I called them.

"Too flashy" example:

So, this is the trick ---> make a approx. 3 inches tall aluminum paper
tube and insert into your build-in flash. To keep it attached to I use tape.

I know, the aluminum roll is going to be looking up (kinda), which is great
so next time to press the shutter the flash is going to bounce on the
aluminum paper and basically goes up. The flash-light is going to be
spread instead of point just one direction, in this case the subject you
are taking the picture of. Capisce? :) (Do you understand? in italian)

"Good flash" example:

Feel free to practice and find your way to make this idea works for you.
Let me know how it goes, ok?

Have fun and shoot away! Rosie :)

Fav Miami Spot

If you feel like your home is not the place where you
want to be portrayed and you live down in Miami, FL
area I'd recommend Matheson Hammock Park & Marina.
OMG! I love this place for a beach style session.
Beautiful scenery, enclosed man-made lagoon, natural trails,
priceless natural light... didn't I say I love it,
did I?

Most common question prior a photographic session

What to wear?

90% of the fellow photographers recommend plain outfits,
white top, beige/denim bottom.

Me? Nope! This is your moment. Wear all those combinations
you wish you had the guts to wear everyday.
Show-off your favorite winter stripped-socks, that 10 yrs. old t-shirt
which still reminds you the good old times, your last sweater investment
that cost you one leg and the other one, etc.
Do you still want to wear white and denim? It's fine with me.

The good thing about a personalized session is that we can have
as much fun as we want, and then some.
Be conservative, sexy, classic, rebel, unique, creative.
This is your time to shine! not mine.
I'll be there to testify you are being just... yourself!
FYI: I can be a great partner in crime :)

Rosie

Another Monday morning

But this one is not typical at all.
I'm congratulating winners, setting up 1st consultations,
(still digesting all the food I ate last night while watching
the SB) mailing out samples and getting to
know so... wow! many new people around South Florida.
I enjoy the office work part of the biz but,
with this beautiful day... darn! I wish I was taking pictures outside.
Anyway, time to go back to my e-mails.
See ya around,
Rosie :)
