It's all about lighting...

When people ask me what I prefer between natural light and studio light I response without thinking twice: Studio lighting!
Why? Well, it's not a secret that I'm a control freak LOL but, for real... it's much more enjoyable to take pictures when you can control your light.
On the other hand, natural light is a priceless source of energy but... let's face it, to all of us who happen to be living in South Florida is... is kinda difficult to be all smiley and fancy when dealing with over 90 F degrees and... adding the mosquito factor to that :)

So, going back to my favorite source of lighting... how??? is right question:
How do you accomplish your desired lighting for a specific situation @ the studio?
Well, first ---> educating myself. I mean CONSTANTLY educating myself.
As a creative, I am so greatful to be learning from the most humble (usually, the best of the best... without having to show off credentials, LOL) photographers out there who are willing to pass around their techniques and then some. Hat off to them!
Strobes, speedlights, reflectors and a pro camera (yeah, the one with too many buttons to play with) make it happens.
My ideal situation is everything off-camera (got it) and wireless (half way done)... I'll get there, eventually :)
There are many DIY websites out there which give you great ideas on how to create your own lighting devices and believe me, I tried a bunch of them but... the right gear from a reputable vendor (warranty involved) is at the end, the cheapest price... my honest opinion.
Oops, I almost forget... tons of trial and error make perfection and you can tell I breath photography 24/7 :)

What am I up to this week?

Well... I'm always up to something :) and it's not joke. I can't shut it down...
Marketing and networking is the game of the week!
Besides creating & ordering promo material I've been networking with different event vendors and planners... like in every industry teaming up is the 'key' to succeed :)
We are only human, my day and yours has the same 24 hours so... @ some point we need someone ELSE to rely on... just being brutally honest here.
THANK YOU to all my real & virtual friends who stick w/me along the way to my personal and professional happiness... I mean it.
Am I getting emotional here??? LOL
Anyway, working on my hubby's website http://chizeled.net and putting together a coffee table book for a client as I type.
I'm ready to shoot a private event on Saturday night, meet with a bride on Saturday and another one on Sunday, lawyers' head shots on Monday :)
Ta-ta for now, R

Canvas time!

As a photographer and mom of two I enjoy featuring my work and personal photos all around my home. At this point, I already have way too many 5x7 and 8x10 frames, so... from now and on, I'm going BIG :)

One of the difficult things when purchasing canvases is to picture them on the wall before placing an order and because they are a little bit pricey you always think twice about it and end up going not bigger than 11x14.
Not anymore! I created this composites to show you how a 3 canvases set up looks right above a standard 82" long couch. Hope it helps you to go big too!

Starting @ $100.00 (24x16) with up to 3 images per canvas.
Collage design (if any) and US ground shipping charges included.
This product is available for South Florida clients only.

Feel free to contact me for more information.

Photographic Giveaway - Time to FREE yourself, literally...

AND THE WINNER IS... CAROL MC!!! :)
Thank you to all the participants and stay tuned for more giveaways coming soon.

I'm celebrating this upcoming 4th of July giving away a Boudoir Photography Session, Yay!

What's boudoir?
A boudoir is a lady's private bedroom, sitting room or dressing room. The term derives from the French verb bouder, meaning "to pout"[1].
- from Wikipedia

Boudoir photography can be translated as a very private, very professional, sexy, glamorous, ego boost, "good taste" 2-hours portrait session where you can be all you are, all you want to be and then some...
A well-deserved gift to YOURSELF and... to your partner.

Where? my home-studio. SW Ranches, FL 33331
What to wear? Everything, nothing at all, your favorite undergarments, your partner's clothes, sexy shoes (the entire shoe rack!), hats, jewelry, you name it...
What else? I recommend to get your hair and makeup done for the occasion.
My job is to create the perfect session's concept, to emphasize the best in you and minimize your self-consciousness.
IMPORTANT: Complimentary in-person consultation is necessary prior to your scheduled session. Awww! This is going to be so much fun...

How do I win this session? Write down 2 words that best describe your personality (as a comment on this post) along with your email address. I will pick a random winner by Sunday night (July 5th, 2009). Good luck everybody!

The photographic session will be held @ the winner's earliest convenience.

Click HERE to get a boudoir session preview. (only G rated images through this link, the PG-13 rated are not available) fair enough, don't you think? :)

What do you win exactly?
My time and talent for approx. 3 hours.
Complimentary CD with 25 edited High Resolution downloads of your images and a private online gallery (available for 30 days). You will be able to purchase high-quality Kodak Endura paper prints through it.
Coffee table books and canvas are available upon request and affordable extra charges.

WINNER NOTE: few of your images will be published in my website after your review and approve them.

I'm easy to work with so feel free to contact me for more info: letmegrowstudio@yahoo.com
