It can't get better than this...

My Wedding Concierge -- Find Us On the iPhone

A couple of years ago I got one of the 1st generation "infamous" iPhones and after returning it twice for different issues I decided to go back to my old-fashioned trusty cell phone; no internet, no emails, not good for my line of work.
2010 started on the right foot and getting a new iPhone 3G was top priority on my "must-have devices" list.
"Making myself available 24/7 and being just a click away are key elements to my daily business workflow. Instant response to my clients is setting me apart from my competitors... and then some."
Well... that's what I thought 'til I came across “My Wedding Concierge” iPhone App.
Today, this new collaboration tool is changing the way I expose my products and services - taking it to another level.
Now, I'm going places... hope you join the ride soon.
Rosie :)

"The “My Wedding Concierge“ iPhone App allows brides to research wedding vendors on the go. My Wedding Concierge is the only iPhone App that focuses solely on wedding vendors. Focused on this vendorcentric view, the iPhone App forgoes traditional wedding planning tools such as seating charts and to-do lists.
As a result, My Wedding Concierge can confidently say that all 60,000+ page views last month were of brides using our app to search for wedding vendors in their local areas.

My Wedding Concierge offers one touch email, phone, and visit to the vendor’s website. Wedding vendors can upload up to 30 pictures of weddings for the bride to peruse.
Brides can rate their favorite photographs and store them away in her favorites folder.
Brides no longer have to carry around a huge wedding folder with pages ripped out of a magazine. Brides can click on the “Request Info” button and their email is immediately captured and sent to the wedding vendor for follow up.
My Wedding Concierge aims to be the ultimate wedding search engine. Brides will be able to use our site to search for relevant information from wedding vendors, hand selected wedding blogs, images, and news articles. All wedding blogs indexed on our site have been selected for content and brides can search through all wedding blogs in one place instead of visiting each site individually. "

My Assoc. photog is finally here - Meet Katherine Shamoun

The impression that an associate photographer is “less than” is not true.
For the last six months I've been searching for an associate photographer who could complement me.
Most important, I've been looking for a creative mind and soul who has the same passion and commitment to this art called photography that I do.

My search is over. Meet Katherine Shamoun.

You can check out her work going to:

and her info is under:
http://letmegrowstudio.net > details > on-location portraits

"I look for the positives in every situation, and the beauty in every person. The belief that everyone deserves gorgeous images of themselves and their family at a reasonable price is my philosophy.
I bought my first camera when I started teaching 10 years ago. I was fascinated with taking pictures of my endearing 3rd graders. After my first daughter was born, we went to a creative photography studio and paid a premium amount just to be rushed out before the next client, and left disappointed with the experience. Soon after, I received my first DSLR as a gift (from my awesome in-laws), and fell in love with creating images of my own. I soon learned that a fancy camera does not make a good photographer.
I started attending courses, devouring books, researching online, and constantly taking pictures of my babies and students. I have also been blessed with endless advice and guidance from Rosie Hernandez and Susan Shamoun, two outstanding photographers that have my respect and admiration.
My passion and talent for photography has continued to grow. I love shooting on location, using as much available light as possible to capture real moments.  I am obsessed with this never-ending, ever changing challenge to understand this intricate art. I am a helpless romantic, born optimist, nurturing mother and teacher, who loves taking stunning images.
I would love to take some of you and your family.
" - Katherine

Why am I getting an associate photography?

- I'm only human.
Yes, my day has only 24 hours like yours. The idea of adding another photographer to the team has being in my mind for a while. Time to make it happens.

- Location, location, location.
90% of my projects are home-studio and event (e-sessions, weddings, religious celebrations, etc.) photography. A decent amount of current and potential clients ask for on-location sessions, meaning @ their homes, by the beach, etc.

- Plan A, B and C.
One of my biggest fears is not being able to capture customer's images due to "out of my control" circumstances (illness, accident, you name it) and unfortunately, that could happen.
I want to be able to delegate my committed assignments ONLY if I have to. To do that I need a reliable professional by my side.

- Not all the jobs are for me.
That's a reality so... why not to expose someone's else talent and being able to make the connection between you and her?
I want to give to my customers plenty of options to pick from.

- What if...
You want two photographers to capture your upcoming event.
Groom and bride are getting ready on separated locations and both of them want pre-ceremony pictures done.
I need help for some dramatic lighting setup at your photoshoot.
etc, etc, etc.
Team effort is the solution to all these situations... and then some.

- Balancing act.
Last year I worked way too much leaving little time for my family and I.
2009 was an incredible journey, personal and professionally speaking but spending some quality time with my loved ones is part of enjoying life :)

Why? is the right question

South Florida Vendors United was born not long ago (Oct. '09) out of my FB friends necessities.
I get tons of public and private messages asking me if I know this or that around the Broward/WPB area and most of the time I do :)
I'm a local photographer thinking BIG these days and networking with reliable local professionals is part of my own success. Due to my limited time to spread the word around I decided to create this virtual space where all of us (vendors, past, current and potential clients) have the opportunity to expose our products, services, testimonials, you name it.
No strings attached. Just us! making it happens...

And... we have a blog! http://southfloridavendorsunited.blogspot.com/

"In today's world, having an online presence and knowing how to use available virtual communication tools around the social media lead us to create relationships, meaning... business opportunities are just a click away :)" - Rosie

All of us have something to learn. All of us have something to teach...

I want to start my Monday sharing one of my own very first images and a message I've got yesterday... it made my week :)

I was wondering how you felt about taking on a long distance apprentice? I have been working on becoming a professional and have done a decent amount of client work...
I have seen many of your photos which are AMAZING. I would love the opportunity to talk with you directly about the business, techniques, editing and learn from you. I would be willing to take a trip down at some point as well if that would be helpful. My wife loves Florida and would enjoy the opportunity to visit the area.
I have many people asking for wedding work which I have put off until I am comfortable doing them. They are really important and you only get one shot so I don't want to mess that up. My friends and clients tell me I am so ready but I have to be ready myself.
I apologize this is so long but I am very passionate about this becoming a business for me and even opening a studio near my hometown over the next 2 years... I have been so impressed with you and how you keep busy with clients and adventures.

If you would be willing to help me out please let me know. I would be excited to get the chance to learn from you and become the photographer I can be...Thanks, A

I'm flattered.
As not too many of you know, I do a lot of post-production work for other photogs from around the country, who don't have the time and/or editing workflow path down. Yes, you can call me ghost-editor :)

Editing for me is not about fixing photos but about enhancing images and making them look the best they can be.
Every batch represents a challenge and that has to be the reason why I enjoy it as much as I enjoy taking pictures.
Also, I love to talk about my photographic experiences with start-up photogs. Hopefully my own trials and tribulations help you to understand that photography, like any other craft has to be experienced and... that's the best part of the ride!

I don't know every trick in town but... I'm learning my lessons and I'm more than happy to pass my humble knowledge among others.

Looking forward to help you out A!
Rosie :)
