Touching up - quick question

G: "I would like to know if your wedding packages include touching up the pictures? The reason that I am asking is because I have scars on my face and I am VERY picky about the way I look in photos. Sometimes the scars don't show up at all and other times they do, I think it just depends on the lighting. Please let me know."

Rosie: "Of course I do. All my final images required light or moderate editing, that includes covering skin imperfections..."

I try to don't over-do-it. Here it is the perfect example... Ahhhhh, perfect skin :)

Love me some challenge

The motorcycle setup wasn't part of the plan but when lil' C gave me all the right signs to go for it I couldn't resist the challenge.
What was the challenge? the motorcycle was surrounded by other vehicles but taking the time to move it to a better location would kill lil' C mood. So I went for it.
I'm loving all his images and this one shows, once again, how important is to have PS and textures as part of your team of post-production tools.
Enjoy,
Rosie :)

Networking in South Florida - Meeting Carmen

I'm welcoming 2010 with many New Year's Resolutions. Networking outside the FB (Facebook) box is one of them.
I have to confess I'm an online rat and even though that's a good thing I realize it's not always good enough :)
I had the opportunity to meet with Carmen Mesa from C & C Flowers and Events last night and... what a lady!!!
She has over 25 years of solid experience in the wedding industry and going strong in many other related fields.
Most important, she's an open book and she's the kind of vendors I want to work with.
Networking is about creating relationships and I surely want to develop my personal and professional ones with her.

It's so easy to be a GREEN photographer

These are simple-eco friendly-sustainable business practices included on my daily routine. Feel free to make them your own:

- 90% of my communication with potential and current customers is done electronically: email, FB, Twitter, Skype and FTP - paperless operation.
Not only it helps me to keep better track of inquiries but also allows me to rely on something else than my memory :) Keeping it virtual is the new black!

- I recycle and reuse all my shipping material :)
My husband can't understand why I save every single cushioned envelope I receive :) Well, most likely they are going out soon!

- All my photographic packages include a complimentary CD with final images to avoid printing of pictures that were not going to be framed.
Every day I ask myself the same question. What do I want to get as a customer? Well, the answer is always the same one: the most for my money, quality and quantity wise. My clients LOVE the idea of getting a CD with all their favorite images without having to hand pick and order prints because THEY HAVE TO. That makes me happy :)

- USB External Drives
Backing up my work is PRIORITY. One of the biggest fears I have is losing my pictures, well... your pictures. Call me control freak but as soon as I'm done with a job (no matter what time it is) I save everything TWICE in my external hard drives. I store all my images for a year, just in case.

- Electronic Documents
I draft a very simple contract for every project I commit to. As soon as I set the details with my client I forward an agreement via email that protects both parties and states what you are getting for your money. Being on the same page is my golden rule :)

- Digital media
I offer High Resolution downloads of FINAL edited images via a private gallery with all my packages. Through this virtual tool, my clients, their family and friends have access to download digital photos to any computer and to purchase affordable high-quality Kodak Endura prints right from the comfort of your keyboard.

- Rechargeable Batteries
It's all about saving the planet, my and your $. I use the best rechargeable batteries. I tried all of them but Sanyo is my brand of choice.

- I buy 2nd hand equipment
Photographers are worse than stamps collectors when it comes to taking care of their equipment. That gives me the confidence I need to purchase used products. Not only I save my money, I'm constantly getting better and newer gear. Sweet!

If you do something ELSE that I didn't mention please add your comment at the end of this post or email me with it: letmegrowstudio@yahoo.com

Thx, Rosie :)

Photoshop for Moms - "black + white + one color" tutorial

There are many reasons why fellow moms decide to get Photoshop: to improve captured images, to get creative with their pictures, to put together their own photo cards, etc. but the most common reason why they don't go anywhere with it is NOT TIME to figure it out how/what/when to use it.
That's why I decided to start giving away simple step-by-step PS tutorials which will help you to understand a little bit better all this "layers-masking-actions" language behind the fascinated world of PS.

Feel free to email me with all your PS questions to letmegrowstudio@yahoo.com and keep me handy :)
